Breizh

Now that we’re on the west coast, it’s time to slowly start to make our way north again. The sun is finally shining, and we’re finding lots of lovely places to explore along the way.

First stop is Bourgneuf en Retz, a small village in the Loire-Atlantique region. There are some great cycle routes in this area so out come our trusty little steeds and off we go. We find lovely coastal paths, small villages and little fishing ports for oyster and clam fisheries.

We travel on to Vannes from here where we find a great aire next to a campsite from where we can cycle into Vannes, where we have a lovely lunch in the sun, a gorgeous cafe viennese and we enjoy the scenery the town has to offer. We thoroughly recommend a visit to Vannes

Across Brittany on the north coast we find a quiet aire at Plérin with a huge beach which looks perfect for a stop over. After a lovely walk along the beach we have a surf ‘n turf BBQ in the evening sun.

Next up is St Malo. In April this charming ancient town is busy enough, so I can imagine what it’s like in the high season. We really enjoy spending the day here. The weather is perfect, luna is loving the little beaches and the place has a really good vibe about it. For the evening we find a great park up just outside St Malo on Pointe de la Varde. Here we find little cove beaches that remind us of Cornwall. Absolutely perfect! Even though the water is very cold, it’s a beautiful day and we decide to get the paddle-boards out. It’s a perfect day for us, topped off with a stunning sunset.

We finish this week at Mont St Michel. It is a simply stunning place, but it’s been set up entirely for tourists which has chipped away at its authenticity. To us that’s a real shame. We enjoyed exploring the little lanes on the Mount. Here’s a video of the mount we hope you enjoy. We have more videos of our travels on our facebook page.

Brittany has been a real pleasure! We will surely be back, as it is a stunning place and we  love it.
