A weekend at home
Last weekend, for the first time in months, we didn’t go camping! It was quite something!
The main reason we were staying home was birthday celebrations, which were really good, with friends and family. It’s nice to catch up with friends and family locally because with all this camping, we haven’t actually seen much of people local to us.
It was a novelty on Friday night, to think that we would be waking up in our own house, in our own bed (which is, it has to be said, much more comfy than the van bed). And that we would have a bit of a lie in… What luxury. Well, I think it was about 7am, which for us is a lie in.
It was nice to have a bimble around our little town, doing a bit of shopping, going for a coffee and going out for some drinks and dinner.
We tidied up the house a little bit, as especially the dining room mostsly serves as ‘van-stuff’ storage these days, where we unload things for a clean before packing them again. So it almost looks like a proper home again.
However, we couldn’t have a van-free weekend, so on Sunday we popped out early to get Seabert washed, and off we went to a breakfast meet at Port Solent, where we met our South Coast Dub friends, before driving off to Lee-on-the-Solent (beautiful, worth a brief visit – have strawberry and vanilla ice cream from Bluebird Cafe) to meet more SCD friends and others on another meet.
The rest of the afternoon was spent cooking plenty of healthy food ready for next weekend, as it’s no longer BBQ weather… Brrrr….
